GO BACK
January - February 2006
What a hectic start to the year already !

Festival4Stars

This year I am helping front the Aberdeen heats of the UK’s biggest talent competition, Festival4Stars.
Aberdeen is as far North as the competition goes so I am trying to pull out all the stops to show that the North and North-East has a wealth of talent out there.
I successfully won 2 categories in 2004 and have since gone on to bigger things with my singing, including recording, being taken on by a big entertainments agency and I will be singing at the London Palladium in July. Successful finalists all over the country have been equally successful, from recording contracts to parts in Stars in their Eyes and River City.
So if you are a singer or dancer of any age and wish to enter, the event at as the Aberdeen Hilton on April 2nd.
To enrol as well as more info about the event, log on to www.festival4stars.co.uk
I will be singing at the Aberdeen event and there will be a host of local celebrity judges as well as Eve Graham from New Seekers fame.

Golden Rose Competition

Yes it’s back by popular demand………………

The Evening Express Golden Rose Competition on the run up to Valentine’s Day.
Former Big Brother winner Cameron Stout dresses up in his tuxedo and arrives in a stretched limo at various destinations all over the area of Aberdeen and Shire handing out roses to unsuspecting women. At the end of a week, and several thousands of photos later, the Evening Express chooses one lucky person who wins a holiday.

This year the Golden Rose came with a difference, as I was asked to do it ‘For the boys!’

On the last leg of Cameron’s gallivanting around the countryside, wooing all the women in the area, he met me in the slick white stretched limo, {courtesy of Hollywood Cars www.hollywoodcars.net} outside the Evening Express offices.

Of course I had to live up to his ‘James Bond image’ and aptly dressed as his ‘Bond Girl’ in my backless designer red silk and diamond encrusted number. It is at this point I must thank Jeanette of Frox for rescuing the day and coming up with such an amazing dress at short notice. This was due to a couple of enlargements on my part {all in the right places} and my other red number no longer fit……………all natural I will add! If you want a number to completely wow, Frox is the place to go in Aberdeen www.frox.uk.com

And wow it did!

Joined by an entourage from the E.E. we set off, dropping in to the Paramedics in Aberdeen, then on to Inverurie Police Station and Tescos.

Hundreds of photos later, a change from the white limo to the Barbie pink one {very apt}, we had a nice leisurely and chatty journey back to the Evening Express, where Cameron and I had many more photographs taken before we went our separate ways.

A special thanks to everyone involved for making it a very enjoyable afternoon. To view photographs check out www.thisisaberdeen.co.uk  and go to Golden Rose 2006 link in ‘buy a photograph’.

Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid

Celebrity Status

You can’t pick up a paper or listen to TV and radio without hearing about the Commonwealth Games but most especially the Glasgow 2014 bid.

I have now been asked to add my ‘celebrity status’ as Miss Commonwealth Scotland to that bid and appear on the website with many celebrity supporters including Sir Alex Ferguson, Jimmy Calderwood, Gordon Strachan, Kenny Dalglish, Lorraine Kelly, Carol Smillie, Lulu, Wet Wet Wet and Michele Mone.
As Miss Commonwealth Scotland I cannot understand quite why they haven’t realised I would be a prefect mascot to help promote such events but at least this is a start. Gift horse and mouth spring to mind.
Let’s face it. It took years for the world to recognise Scotland as a country in its own right and that is why I am the first women to take the Miss Commonwealth Scotland title internationally. As I have just won the title again I intend doing my bit for Scotland.
I am urging all fellow Scots to sign on to try and get the games to Scotland.

SO EVERYONE GET ONLINE www.glasgow2014.com AND SIGN ON!

Thistle & Broom

Last month I touched briefly on the news I am to wear the famous Thistle & Broom Saltire Gown at Miss Commonwealth International in July.
Now I can officially announce I have been taken on as The Face of Thistle & Broom.
As part of their agreement I will extend my work as an ambassadress for Scotland while wearing Thistle & Broom couture clothing during my public appearances worldwide as Miss Commonwealth Scotland.
Thistle & Broom already boasts the support of pop idol Darius Danesh, brother Aria, Kelly Cooper-Barr and harpist/vocalist Katie Targett-Adams, whose pictures grace the award-winning website.
Thistle & Broom shot to fame during last years New York Tartan Day festivities with their show stopping display of exclusive and extraordinary couture clothing from designers across Scotland at the Dressed to Kilt Fashion Show.
The press releases have gone worldwide and Darius and Katie have been really supportive giving out quotes with regards to my charity work and singing.
I am truely honoured to get this opportunity and look forward to supporting the company and Teresa Fritschi, managing director and chief creative officer in my capacity as Miss Commonwealth Scotland.

Dedicated 2 Weddings

The new edition of Dedicated 2 Weddings magazine is winging itself out to suppliers around Scotland as I write this.
Since featuring as their Covergirl in their Autumn / Winter edition, D2 have become my sponsors for the Miss Commonwealth International in July.
Exclusive in this season’s edition of Dedicated 2 Weddings you can read about my engagement to Mark. Forthcoming wedding will be also remain exclusive to the magazine which promises to be Scotland’s’ version of Hello magazine as the Wedding of the Year!

Visit Scotland

On the run up to Burn’s Night, I was asked by Visit Scotland to do a shoot at Strathisla Distillery, Keith, to ‘Toast the haggis’.
This was in conjunction of the launch of a quarter of a million new leaflets to promote the Whisky Trail, the only one of its kind in the world. www.maltwhiskytrail.com
Strathisla is a beautiful distillery and it was fantastic to be shown round some of the areas others do not see. The refurbishment is something all who were involved with should be very proud of.
The photos can be seen on my website and the press release made it worldwide to some of the biggest newspapers in the world.

There are a lot of new and exciting opportunities coming my way this month which I will share as soon as I am at liberty to talk.

As ever………………………..

Watch this space!

January 2006

The start of things to come!

Thistle & Broom – Saltire Gown

The New Year got off to a great start with contact from a company making a big name for itself in Scotland and all over the world.
Thistle & Broom who featured throughout all the Nationals and beyond with their now famous Saltire Gown modelled at New York Tartan Week on the Dressed to Kilt Fashion Show, LA Fashion Week, Historic Scotland fashion show and beyond.
Some of their best known models are Darius Danesh, brother Aria, Kelly Cooper-Barr and Katie Targett-Adams and famous harp player to boot.
I received the fantastic news that I am to wear the Saltire Gown at the Miss Commonwealth International at the London Palladium on 16th July.
With much more promising news to report this was truly the start of an excellent New Year.

Beautiful Weddings Exhibition - Saturday 15th & 16th – Music Hall, Aberdeen.

It was with great delight that I was invited along to guest appear and officially open the 18th Beautiful Weddings Exhibition organised by Don Morrison.    Although very nervous at the prospect of public speaking I was really pleased to accept the offer. It was also arranged by Dedicated 2 Weddings, the company who I won the Covergirl competition with and feature on the front cover of their current magazine, that I would make an announcement of my own to the national press and Grampian Television Company.
I arrived in a new concept of transport, a plasma screened van by BIGfish www.bigfish-tv.com advertising the Dedicated 2 Weddings magazine with me on the front cover. I was joined by two young girls also bedecked in plasma screens, The Tele-tummies – advertising the magazine, so my face was everywhere!
After stopping for press photographs and then officially opening the event I announced that…….

I am engaged to be married, promising to be the Wedding of the Year for the Grampian Area!

The engagement was supposed to have been officially announced at the show too but the National Press beat me to it releasing their own story during the week.
It was really exciting looking round the exhibition and getting ideas for my own wedding.
Of course all the arrangements for the BIG DAY are now top secret in what Dedicated 2 Weddings will be covering the wedding exclusively so venue etc., all TOP SECRET!!!!!
