The Crathes Vintage Car & Motorcycle Rally………..
in aid of UCAN Urological Cancers
What a great day! Not bad weather too. I must say the Banchory-Ternan Rotary Club know how to treat people and I was treated like a queen.
Picked up in the new Hybrid Lexus by Arthur McKenzie from Lexus Aberdeen, we enjoyed a scenic trip in the countryside in style.
At Crathes we met ‘the team’; Chris Engel, rally convener, who did all the arranging for me to be there, Jim Gordon {Club president} and wife Kath, Phil Taylor, {honorary rally president} and Eddie Gillanders, rally press officer.
Watching the wonderful cars coming in, I got my pick of which I wanted to travel in on the 25 mile run around Deeside. It was very windy, so not wanting to return to open the event as though I had been dragged through a hedge, I chose an old Rover 3litre. The owners, Jim and Liz Hendry, made me very welcome and we found we had plenty to talk about on the journey. Apparently Jim’s Rover is used for many a wedding.
The run started and we lead the procession to Torphins where we stopped for a bit for everyone to mingle and my chance to look at all the pristine vehicles. Then it was off again to the retirement home to let all the older generation reminisce on bygone years.
From there I was treated to a wonderful slap up meal at Banchory Lodge Hotel with Jim, Kath and Phil, while the rest of the vehicles headed back to the Rally. It was a very leisurely and fun lunch but time flew past too quickly.
After photographs I was picked up in a Vintage Citroen Big 15. What a beautiful car, again with immense legroom and used for many weddings.
Then the serious stuff and I had to give a speech to open the show, something I am not overly confident in doing but was assured I did a great job.
All the officialdom out of the way I was led round all the cars. Andrew Tobin {now a good friend} of Events Captured took hundreds of photos of the day, which you can view in Galleries at www.eventscaptured.co.uk. as well as John Shewell www.john-shewell.co.uk and had the patience of a Saint taking photographs of me presenting prizes to every single winner on the day!
Being photographed so much was an ideal opportunity to get in some of the sports cars to pose of course and I didn’t need any prompting.
Later on in the day I presented all the prizes to the winning vehicles and we then went up to Crathes Castle for more photos.
I was then driven home in the Rover, exhausted, but well happy the event had been a success, a wonderful experience and had hopefully raised plenty of funding for UCAN. I can only add that the Rotary Club of Banchory-Ternan are one of the most professional groups I have come across whilst guest appearing as Miss Commonwealth Scotland. I hope that I may be asked back to help them in the future!
CHILDREN 1ST
June 2nd had been in my diary since the beginning of the year, a press and photo call for Children 1st.
A novel idea for charity, and as Miss Commonwealth Scotland, I was asked to front the launch of Grade-♪-Athon !
This is an open invitation for all gifted musicians from the North East of Scotland who will hopefully make sweet music throughout the winter months to raise funds for two Scottish organisations. Children 1st and The North East of Scotland Music School Ltd {NESMS} will benefit from music scholars battling their wits against instruments unknown to them.
The Grade-♪-Athon Aberdeen will see individuals who are at least Grade 7 in any instrument, undertake a Grade 1 exam in an instrument in which they have little or no experience. Participants will have one group lesson in the new instrument and then be given 8 further weeks to practice before culminating in a one day Grade 1 examination.
I was delighted to be asked to launch this event as Miss Commonwealth Scotland and of course as Ambassador for Aberdeen City & Shire it is the perfect opportunity to help promote our local talent.
Learning an instrument is challenging in itself, but completing a Grade 1 in only 10 weeks is inspirational!
I wish all those participating in the Grade-♪-Athon Aberdeen the very best of luck and I hope everyone succeeds in passing their Grade 1 exam.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact the North East of Scotland Music School on 01224 649685. GOOD LUCK!
SCOTLAND V ENGLAND
Miss Commonwealth Scotland - 1 England - 0
World Cup Fever is now on us and sadly Scotland will not be taking part. However I am one up on the England team!
This week it was announced that not only is David Beckham wearing nanotechnology Lifewave energy patches, but the England team will be sporting them at the World Cup ; wearing them to enhance their performance particularly near the end of a match when energy levels are exhausted.
But this product was first tried and tested here in Scotland, and long before England got wind of this software for the human body.
The trials were not on the pitch either, but on the catwalk and tested by ME!
As 1st runner up in the world in Miss Commonwealth International last year, I was approached by Lifewave because of my demanding schedule as Scotland’s most successful beauty queen.
I admit I was sceptical but also inquisitive as to how a non drug patch could help me.
Dental hygienist by day, Ambassador for Aberdeen City and Shire, guest appearing, singing, modelling and attending photo shoots and press calls {over 200 to date}, at nights and weekends, my levels of energy are constantly being drained. So I agreed to try the energy patches and was astounded at the results. Within days I noticed I was more alert and able to continue with work without feeling exhausted.
This patch nanotechnology is amazing! I don’t wear them every day, however when I have particularly challenging schedule I use them to give me energy on demand. I would recommend them to everyone with an exhausting lifestyle especially as it’s impressive and reassuring to know nothing enters the body from the patch as it is non-transdermal. I believe the patches could be the start of things to come. The energy Patches have certainly improved my quality of life and lifestyle.
I understand several key football players are now using the patches with great results as well as Olympic teams and over 80 of the 100 top women golf players in the LPGA. What a pity I couldn’t have persuaded the Scotland team but maybe I can work on the Aberdeen team to try them out!
Lifewave energy patches communicate by transmitting through the body’s magnetic field. The patches contain amino acids sugars, oxygen and water.
What David Schmidt, the inventor of Lifewave Energy Enhancer Patches has essentially done is to use the electronic and magnetic features of the body like a cellular radio to transmit information from his Patches in to the body to enhance the production of energy and stamina.
I will continue wearing the energy patches on the run up to being crowned Miss Commonwealth Scotland for a second year in July. I take part as well as sing at the prestigious Miss Commonwealth International event in London.
With the launch of a Lifewave Face Lift / Skin Care system coming soon and an already huge success with their sleep and pain patches, it looks as though patches will soon take over from aspirin and ibuprofen in the medicine cabinet.
Details about Lifewave {including distribution} available at

AOModels
Model agency no.8!
I was approached a couple of weeks ago by AOModels in London who are hoping to take on several of the Miss Commonwealth International successes. Anthony Ogbu has asked me to join the agency and I am happy to accept. Through being signed to so many agencies I have had a variety of work from been taken on as Mattel’s Face of Barbie, modelling, singing and appearing in television advertisements. I will soon appear on their website www.aomodels.co.uk
Television Advert
In a couple of weeks I am away to film for more television advertisements. Barclays of Perth, a large furniture company in the central belt were so delighted with the first set of advertisements I did for them that they have asked me back to film some more!
Their advertisements were shown all over Scotland and I am looking forward to filming for them again.
More photo shoots to follow very soon………………..
In a couple of weeks time I have a couple of photo shoots and will keep you posted. In the meantime they are a closely guarded secret.
MISS COMMONWEALTH INTERNATIONAL
The Triple Crown is fast approaching. The event was postponed in November because of visa problems for some of the chaperoned girls coming from abroad, so a new date was set for 16th July.
I will be crowned Miss Commonwealth Scotland for the 2nd year as well as take part in Miss Commonwealth International where last time I took 1st runner up place out of 54 Commonwealth countries worldwide. I have also been requested to sing at this years event.
I am still asked what the difference is between Miss Scotland and Miss Commonwealth Scotland.
Miss Commonwealth International is a worldwide pageant for Commonwealth countries, approved by the Queen. It focuses on providing a vast amount of support to charities worldwide and humanitarian needs and the team are extremely dedicated to promoting high standards, morals and family values. There is no bikini category and focus is on intelligence, knowledge as well as looks, etc.
To take part you have to appear and win through in Miss Commonwealth UK or relevant contests in other commonwealth countries. Then if you win for your country you can take part in the International.
You are not judged to go through to the finals by a phone vote or by just sending in a photograph! How can you judge a girl by a phone call? It is perfectly obvious that people will vote for their friends and it is open to all sorts of abuse and unfairness.
Miss Scotland is sponsored by a tabloid newspaper. They arrange the prizes and sponsorship and the winner then works for that paper where and when they say.
Miss Commonwealth International winners find their own sponsorship and much of their own success is through finding it themselves through their title triumph. You have to be dedicated to supporting charities, and achieving the success I have, involves a lot of ground work, total dedication and hard work.
So yes there is a huge difference between the two and I hope this has given you an insight into the importance of such a title.
Being asked to take the title for a 2nd year and as the first ever woman to win the Scottish title has meant I can continue to strengthen my position and profile throughout Scotland and continue supporting good causes.
Now appointed as an Ambassador for Aberdeen City & Shire this allows me to promote my region too wherever I travel in my capacity as Miss Commonwealth Scotland.
I have heard that press releases of my success have been in newspapers all over the world including Australia, Canada and America. It has been amazing quite where I turn up on the internet too but my biggest surprise came from my home town of Aberdeen……………………….. |
